What intuitive eating is (and what it’s not) 🍽️

Hi there Reader,

I’ve shared recipes here on Grateful Grazer for years, but there’s a deeper thread that's guided my work: intuitive eating.

There’s a good chance you’ve heard of intuitive eating before. Maybe you've also felt confused by some of the mixed messaging on the topic.

As a dietitian and certified intuitive eating counselor, I created this guide to help make sense of it all:

What is Intuitive Eating? A Beginner’s Guide

In this post, I share:

  • What intuitive eating really is (and what it’s not)
  • A real-world explanation of each of the 10 principles
  • Common critiques (and why nuance and flexibility matter)
  • How to begin (in your own way and at your own pace)

If food has felt hard lately, or like something you’re constantly trying to “get right,” I hope this helps you begin in a new way.

Warmly,
Stephanie

P.S. If you want to learn more about intuitive eating, this post on non-diet book recommendations might be helpful too!

Hi Reader, When it's hot outside, I want meals that don't require turning on the oven, and also make me feel full and satisfied after eating. Enter: the big, hearty salad. These are the kinds of salads that go way beyond lettuce with dressing. They're packed with beans, grains, colorful veggies, and flavorful toppings to keep things interesting. Hi Reader, Have you ever wondered if it's really possible to practice intuitive eating and still want to lose weight? This is one of the most common questions I hear.
